A night of golf

I hung out with my dear friend Timothy last night and we had such a wonderful evening. I showed up in heels and after he asked me if I had any other shoes with me I knew he was up to something. So one oversized pair of chucks later and we arrive at a golf course/driving range. He pulls out two clubs from his car and orders up two buckets of balls. With a brief tutorial on how to swing, he set me loose. He claims I'm a "natural" which maybe I am given how good my Mom was at golf, but we shot video so you can judge for yourself.

I've been looking for those signs everyone keeps saying I'll see to know Mom is with me. And while I wouldn't have thought, the moment I swung that club I felt so connected to her and just knew she was having a good ol' smile at this whole scene. And Tim's not so bad himself, so I'm sure she loved that!

But the real sign came after we started chatting with this guy a couple mats down. Tim's not unlike Mom, he'll talk to anyone. And the guy seemed taken by the fact that this was my first time given how I was hitting. I was too focused on my "stance" to chat a whole lot. But we introduced ourselves and he shared a couple of his irons with me to try out (didn't do as well with those!). When I finished up my bucket and 1/2 of Tim's and it was time to go, we said bye to our new friend Eric. And he shook my hand and said "nice to meet you, you said your name is Katie, right?" I smiled and said no, it's Jen. But boy if I didn't know at that moment that Mom was with me.

All in all it was a wonderful evening, capped off with dinner, drinks and then some tea and of course lots of good conversation. Unfortunately Tim knows all too well what I'm feeling right now, so our evening out together, more than any other evening, was really nice.

  1. Oh my gosh Jen, That video was a little earie. You bring the club back just like Kate.. You are a natural. Remember I played with Kate when she first started out. You have the same type of swing and the same slight hesitation at the top of the swing. She must have been there helping you to swing that club. You need to take up golf. You will be really good with practice. Just watch the ball, you already have a pretty good swing. The Kate thing with the guy you met, oh yeah definitely a sign. I'll have to tell you about the night my friends and I went out after my mom died and how her name was mntioned by a stanger at the end of the evening. We all looked at one another and said that she must have been watching us.

Keep posting, remembering and enjoying life,
    Debbie
