glad she's missing this

Sometimes I think to myself, very few and far between, that it's good my Mom isn't here to see certain things. Like the devastation of Hurricane Sandy and the Jersey shore. The beaches she always loved, along with her Mom/my Nana, they would just be heart broken right now to see how destroyed the place they loved is -- and by a natural disaster. It's just so shocking and sad.
And so while countless times throughout my day I say to myself, "I wish Mom was here now" -- tonight as I watch the telethon to raise money toward all of those who lost their homes and personal belongings, I'm glad that she's not also watching this as I know it would break her heart to see a collapsed boardwalk, a pile of homes turned to scraps and a place that was filled with memories and quaint small town images now be overturned by disaster.
And so with that, I encourage each and every one of you to do what you can and make a donation to the Red Cross. The littlest amount helps and believe me, I'm not in a position to give barely anything but I gave my $10 and you can too. So go HERE to donate now, please. And then go take a look around at your life, your belongings and your home and be grateful you still have it all. xo
