shopping is therapeutic

I'll never say life is better with money b/c I truly believe happiness doesn't stem from money. But money sure can make things more fun--like shopping! Over the summer a new outdoor mall opened at the end of the already outdoor shopping promenade (3rd st). But the mall has Bloomingdales and my favorite--Nordstrom, as well as many other ridiculously pricy stores. The fact that I live on 5th street and there is now more shops within a 1/4 mile radius to my house than I could ever dream of is a bit problematic. But at least I now have a few extra bucks in my pocket so I allow myself to wander into the mall once in a while. And today was one of those days--I strolled along in my flip flops as it's 75 outside and did some damage (again) in the Nordstrom. And boy was it fun. I kept hearing my mom say--it's all things you need, Jen, it's ok. Because I have realized that in not really shopping in two years and now living in LA, nothing in my closet is "current" and people at work all wear cute stuff so I gotta keep up. The tax is a killer though--10%! That makes me miss PA a lot. So I text my dad and said the tax is killing me, I have to wait until I'm home next week to tackle the shoe department and maybe he'd take me like my mom used to :)

Needless to say, not a bad way to spend a sunny Sunday. And since i'm tacking a break from exercise b/c my toe/foot have been hurting (possible stress fracture i think), this was a nice leisure activity. Now I'm taking in some football and then gotta get ready for a date (first date), fingers crossed it's a good one. He suggested a wine bar I've been dying to check out so, so far so good but we'll see....

Cheers!
