a win.

A couple weeks ago while I was very much feeling "adrift" a coaching colleague said to me, "it sounds like you just really could use a "win." And yes, that about summed it up. Having worked myself into a space where I could only focus on what I wasn't accomplishing despite my efforts, I realized how much a win would feel nice. But I also knew that I had my own work to do - that I couldn't skirt around this rough patch because there was definitely personal insight and direction to be gleaned. And so that's what I set an intention to do -- lean into the discomfort and see with what and how I would come out the other side.

And just like that -- as I see happen to my clients over and over -- as soon as I got myself into a space where I was able to be open to new pathways, paths different than I first envisioned (and some that I wasn't even all that excited about but knew that could lead to something else), something fell out of the sky -- A WIN. And not just a "win" in the sense of I picked up a piece of business, this was the perfect engagement, the perfect project for me. If I could write on a piece of paper what my ideal scenario would be for the type of work I've been trying to attract and am so excited to do it would be to go back inside advertising agencies and coach people to be (better) leaders. And while I'm so not picky, if I was writing my wish list, of course I'd love the chance to work with the best agencies out there. The ones that I've only coveted as an ad person and imagine what it would be like to work in a place that's known for some of the most famous, incredibly well-respected brands.

AND THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED.

Incredible. Just like that I had a lead on a request for proposal from a leading ad agency looking to build a roster of coaches. But I knew this wasn't just a "leading agency" it was one of THE best. It was the easiest proposal I ever did because I feel I'm made for this. I get this industry, I love it, I "grew up" in it and I get it's idiosyncrasies and also what makes it incredibly special and rewarding to work within. So it was no surprise when I got the feedback that my proposal quickly rose to the top and the agency wanted to bring me on to speak to the first candidate. Boom, just like that. Fell out of the sky and into my lap. And for me, while it's certainly nice to have a win, and a paying one at that, for me it's much bigger. It's validation that my brand really resonates with the audience that I've been targeting exclusively these last 21 months. But also I'm choosing to see it as a message from the universe -- one that says "hang in, you have something here, just be patient." And so I plan to not just do an incredible job but to also remind myself that while it's been a long road -- I got myself here. And I need to never lose sight of that, even when times get tough. And most of all, never give up...because it will happen. All of it.
