Feel obligated to drop an update for my loyal readers (i do know who you are thanks to google analytics :) even though I don't have much to report. Life has been much of the same--looking and looking hard for a job. I feel really, really ready to get back to work (remind me I said this in a few months :) It's been a wonderful time away from the crazy ad biz but I do miss it. Most of all, I'm growing sick of myself and all the time I spend on my own...ready to meet some new folks at a new job and start a new chapter.
I did enjoy a super fun night out with my good friends Kelly and Mike who were in San Diego visiting family and came up to LA to see me for a night. We spent the day on the beach catching up, happy hour at my place with wine and cheese and then I brought them to one of my favorite seafood restaurants where we sat across from Reese Witherspoon, so that was a fun sighting. Then we grabbed a cab to the well known karaoke bar in the area, The Gas Lite, (where i went on my bday) b/c Kelly is truly one of the best...but we got there too late so never got called up b/c the bar closed. But none the less we still had fun!
This past weekend was also opening day for NFL--one of my favorite days of the year! So up early I was and headed to the jewish deli for some warm bagels and schmear and off to Mike & Nikkis for the day. Mike has the NFL ticket so we get to see ALL the games (a fantasy football person's dream). So 10am was the Steelers (mike's fav), 1pm Eagles, and 5pm McNabb wearing maroon--weird. We had homemade wings followed by beer and homemade pizzas (see pics) and ice cream cake for Nikki's bday. So a day full of friends, football and food--3 things I LOVE.
Today I went to an industry networking event and Betty White was the surprise guest speaker--that was pretty cool too. She's so cute, and it's crazy she's 88! I was probably slightly more excited to see be in the company of two of the best Creative Directors in the ad biz, but that's just me. Too bad I didn't get to meet them after at the little "reception", bummer.
So that's about it for now. Really just looking to remain positive in light of the jewish new year, a time to renew, and upon the passing of my one year anniversary. So I'm keeping in shape, trying to eat better, cook more (my dish in the pic) and drink less, and networking, networking, networking. So keep your fingers crossed for me!
Just remember, "a door opens when you least expect it...it is your choice whether you choose to enter...". Keep your positive spirit going! Kelly R.
