feeling grateful

Feeling very grateful that i've heard from most of my close friends and all of my family and it seems everyone weathered storm Irene OK. Thank goodness. I've noticed with more and more natural disasters happening around the world it makes us more hyper aware and as a result that much more grateful when we are spared significant damage. And living in a city where everyone feels the clock is ticking for a disaster to hit CA, well, it certainly makes me feel grateful for each day it doesn't. And yesterday while most of my loved ones were under water or hiding in basements b/c of tornado warnings, I was able to enjoy a spendid day of sunshine and 80 degrees here in LA. Actually, my friends and I took a ferry over to Catalina Island, just 22 miles out to sea between Marina Del Ray and Long Beach. It's such a cute little island with boats docked everywhere and beautiful homes built up into the hills. And then a ton of tourist stuff in between. So we made our way around all the local watering holes and spent some time in the sun...it was quite relaxing and we couldn't help but feel lucky when many of our loved ones were being drowned in rain from Irene. So that makes the theme of this blog entry 'feeling grateful.'
