My cousin Sheryl, who's really been like a big sis to me in so many ways, had a big bash in CO to celebrate her marriage to Karl (and can we give eHarmony some props!!). So I couldn't miss this...plus, I've been dying to get out to CO to see her new home and also my cousin Jan, especially since i'm not too far away being in CA now. So off I went and what a nice family weekend it was. My dad came along with his new "friend" along with my uncle sherb and aunt dianne and my other cousin Jason. It was such a fun group! Most of us stayed at Sheryl's house--beautiful big home in Carbondale CO, just next door to Aspen. So I got to hang with Sheryl's kids and her new step kids who are just darling as well as meet and hang with Jack, Jan's almost 5 year old son who's just adorable and her step sons as well. So it was a house full of kids, adults, laughter and most of all love.
I can't think of the last time I got to stay up till 1am sitting around a kitchen table drinking beer with all my big cousins...i'm not sure ever since i've always been the baby cousin and now we all live in different places. The only things that were missing were my two big brothers...I realized when I was flying solo without them that I really missed them...and they just would've loved it. We told family stories and honest to god laughed so hard at one point we were all crying. It was great...nothing like family I must say. And my cousins both married some pretty cool dudes...I can only hope when I have my own person to add into the mix he's as cool as I look forward to another CO weekend some day.
I think the highlight of the weekend and the party was the beer truck! Sheryl's longstanding PR client is Paulaner german beer and up rolled this truck with 2 taps of beer, both of which were YUMMY. Once again, my brother's would've loved it. We were all pretty much in heaven and the bbq pulled pork and mac n cheese was the perfect compliment.
Nice job, cuz. I loved every bit of it. Especially sunday when me, Sheryl and Karl went on a hike (was bit of a sad show as we were all sweating out beer but we did it!). They took me up Red Hill and I got to see the most gorgeous view of Mt Sopris. Beautiful. And a perfect day to conclude my CO weekend. I can't wait to go back...of course my cousin Jan is on the hunt to find me a man in Denver (where I'm told the average age is 33 so it does make ya wonder). But he'd have to be pretty amazing to make me leave my lovely neighborhood by the beach :)
