Fall & What Lies Ahead

WOW, I can't believe October is drawing to a close. Where is 2011 going?! While it might not be your typical Fall weather that I'm used to here in LA, it's been quite lovely out. And in order to keep my East Coast roots "real" I decided to host a Fall dinner with friends. So last Sunday we spent the afternoon sipping on hot apple cider, enjoy fall dishes including pumpkin risotto and grilled filet and chicken and of course my mom's apple pie. It was quite a lovely evening. Nikki made a mushroom soup that was to die for and KD and Angie brought some awesome appz and Amy added a nice lil touch to each place setting, so her. And Sarah arrived with the pumpkin she promised and some lovely wine. So it all came together quite well.
Beyond that, I'm been a busy bee reading up on what will be the next chapter of my life. Learning lots about what makes a good listener, how to ask powerful questions to get information, etc etc. And I just got back form an empowering weekend in Santa Barbara, it was incredible. I'm in a program with 30 others, there's 31 of us in total and I have a small group that includes 7 others. It was so wonderful to connect with some new people who share common goals as myself and open myself up to their presence and all that they have going on in their lives. I'm fresh off the weekend and not sure it's all settled in yet but what I do know is the people I met are truly wonderful and I can't wait to move through the upcoming months with them. And Santa Barbara is a special place I really love heading up there. Enclosed is a pic of a beautiful sunrise I caught on my run one morning.
But as I sit here on my sofa relaxing and reflecting, I realize i'm exhausted. I have a lot of my plate for myself in this next year and while I'm ready, I'm also trying to mentally prepare and keep the deal that I have w/ myself that I won't get too ahead of myself and as a result, not enjoy the journey. So here's to looking ahead, at a view that hasn't felt this good in a long, long time, and taking time to pause and enjoy it each step of the way. I've been saying I came to CA to define a new journey for myself and I'm thrilled to say I'm finally on that journey, so here's to enjoying it!
