emerging in Austin

About a week shy of four months since I arrived in Austin, TX and made it my new home and I finally feel the fog is beginning to lift (now if the 18" of rain would stop - I came prepared for heat, not constant rain!). I'm feeling pretty settled into my house, though there are still are few things I can't quite afford and want, like a guest bed, but in do time those things will fill in. I'm finally feeling like I have a few different sets of friends who I've been able to hang out with more than once and with that beginning to feel a real genuine rapport develop which is such a nice feeling. Especially when you arrive to a place where you essentially know no one (minus one great cousin :). I'm also getting myself out there and starting to sign up for things. In addition to finding the Austin Beer Run Club, I just did the Color Run 5k with a friend and some of her friends and it was SO fun. And I just signed up for co-ed Flag Football team (where I know no one, eek!) through the Austin Sports & Social Club - game one May 30th followed by happy hour at a fun bar on South Congress (and not far from my house - perfect!). A bit daunting, but can't wait!

I'm still riding the crazy wave of match.com - always an adventure. Working my arena of showing up myself and putting myself out there to attract love. Have met some cool people and gone to some cool places so for that I'm grateful. We'll see who else pops up in my second three months...there's a new wave of interest :) Things feel like they are really coming together socially. I've had a couple bbq's here and finally have my new picnic table out on the porch. So I hope to have a bit of a PAR-TAY come June or July - perhaps for my birthday...we'll see.

Most of all I'm so grateful to feel each time I'm out somewhere new in Austin I'm realizing how much I really love it here and how incredibly good of a fit it feels for me at this point in my life - like the awesome sports bar I just discovered and can't wait to watch Sunday football at, or the incredible outdoor cafes with live music, the open mic nights or even my fantastic porch that is so relaxing and now my new favorite room of the house to jam out to tunes and enjoy a cocktail. I'm feeling super jazzed about summer coming - I'm ready for the heat - and following summer I know football season is going to be off the hook here - I'm psyched! Already recruiting for my fantasy football league :)

Life is good - and what I continue to learn is when I focus on how good it is (vs how I wish I had more work and less debt) it's incredibly energizing. I came to Austin with one intention - to be completely OPEN to anything and anyone it had to offer me...so here's to more chances and many more dances, yeeeeee-hawwwww!
