Huntington Library Gardens

Today was a great day. It started with a morning run overlooking the Ocean and then I weaved my way back through the Santa Monica farmers market--YUM. I stocked up on some fresh asparagus, baby artichokes, tomatoes, lots of berries and of course fresh flowers. I then took off to pick up my dear friend Kate, who I'm sad to say is leaving LA to head back East next week, and we went to the Huntington Library Gardens in Pasadena. It is absolutely gorgeous there!

We had such a lovely afternoon strolling through the "desert" garden, the ponds, the japanese garden and finally the rose garden. So, so peaceful and beautiful. I think I might have to become a member as I see myself returning there quite often. Then we capped our perfect day off with a reservation at the tea house, in the rose garden area. We have lovely rose petal tea and a buffet of yummy tea sandwiches and the most amazing warm, homemade scones. And they even give you more at the end along with a baggie to bring some home--PERFECT!

It's a place I without a doubt would have loved to bring my Mom and I'm sad I didn't know about it when she came out to visit. But now I know where I can go and think about her b/c from the gardens to the tea--she would've loved it all.

  1. Don't kid yourself. Your mom wouldn't have missed seeing those unbelievable gardens. She had to be watching this time.
