Last night I found Shawn coming down the escalator in the US Air terminal and ran right up to him to give a big hug. I'm just so happy he's here. We talked the whole way to my apartment with me interrupting here and there explaining to him the towns we were driving through, etc. We stopped at my place to drop his things and freshen up and then walked over to one of my favorite local spots, right along Ocean Ave (overlooking the Pacific), Blue Plate Oysterette. We enjoyed mussels in a spicy red curry, calamari and shrimp ceviche, truffle lobster mac n cheese and then Shawn had himself a variety of Oysters. It was all YUM.
We strolled home under a sky lite up by a nearly full moon and I took Shawn to the special overlook where I go to think about my Mom. It was nice to show him that. And before we knew it we were not quite talked out but definitely tired, esp Shawn after the day of travel, so we snuggled into our respective beds and to sleep we went.
Today I was good and woke up bright and early to make my cardio day of boot camp--and boy did it kick my butt!! Shawn was up before I left so I fixed him up with some coffee and he made some work calls back East while I ran up and down some hills, ugh! We then hit the beach together for a nice long walk and he so enjoyed the smell of the ocean and the warm sun on our faces. After we came back to my place we decided to hop in the car and head to Hollywood. I took Shawn to Hollywood Blvd to see the stars on the sidewalk and all the "actors" dressed up along the street (see the pic of spidy and batwoman :) And we had a lovely posh lunch at Hotel Roosevelt, a hotel that's been around since the 20s and actually host the first ever Oscars back in the day. We ate poolside and Shawn enjoyed the "Scenery." The hotel is next door to where I used to work, Trailer Park, so some old co-workers came by, including my old boss and friend, Tom. So we had lunch and caught up and then I got to take Shawn over to Trailer Park to see my old office space...he was impressed.
We drove around some more, through Beverly HIlls and past lots of the big mansions...taking in all the wealth in/around LA. And we came home and both agreed a nap was in order as the late afternoon sun was beaming into my apartment. And as I type, we've yet to motivate to head out for dinner...we opted for a little happy hour at home and are now thinking perhaps we just order in and re-charge. It was a full day and we have so much more planned for Friday/Saturday/Sunday. So stay tuned!
