My July continues with more comforts of home out here in LA. One of my oldest and dearest best friends, Johanna, came out with her family for 12 days to hang w/ her sister in San Diego and me in LA. I got to host them at my place for a night and spend a weekend with them in San Diego--including getting some wine tasting in at Temecula while her mom babysat the girls. Good times all around....I LOVED having her here and being able to show someone so close to me the life I've set up for myself here.
I was also pleasantly surprised by a blast from my past last week--Carbon Leaf was playing a show in West Hollywood! For those of you who may not know, that's a band from Richard, VA that I used to promote for back on the East Coast while living in NYC. I was responsible for getting them the first bunch of gigs in NYC and in Phila. It was quite a lot of fun for me and over the years I've been like a proud mother hen watching them "make it." While the band has changed and my closest friend is no longer with them, I'm still a fan of the music and love the guys that are still part of the original crew. So it was really quite nice to see them play--very nostalgic. As soon as they opened up I could feel this giant smile on my face and this feeling come over me of just happiness. Something I find a bit hard to comeby sometimes. So I thoroughly enjoyed their 2 hour set and enjoyed even more hanging with them late night into the wee hours just catching up like old times. It was so cool to see them in a new city, the city i now live in. Check out the video clip of the hot mr carter gravitt on the electric guitar to my FAV song, Let Your Troubles Roll By, and check them out at www.carbonleaf.com
So, so far July has been pretty great. But it's time to buckle down. I'm in need of a "diet" and a serious detox...something tells me two weeks out from my bday that may not happen in full effect but I at least have to get things under control. And most importantly, line up some work. I've got my hands in a few different things seeing what's next so that's all exciting. Stay tuned--I'm considering anything from dog walking to doing what I was doing in advg to something totally new...we'll see!
