Despite my trepidation of how I might feel on my birthday, I had an awesome day. Thanks to Facebook you feel like the most popular person on the planet and being 3 hours behind most of my friends I got to wake up and instantly feel the love. All of my nieces and nephews called or sent me videos with their birthday wishes and of course cards. And my one and only guy that's there for me year after year, my Dad, sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Lots of cards, lots of calls, lots of love. One very important card and call was missing and I can't imagine that for the rest of my life, but we won't focus on that.
Then off to Hollywood I went to have lunch by the pool at the Roosevelt, like old times, with a couple of the gals I used to work with. And I got to see lots of old co-workers at the agency which was actually really really nice. Home to shower, chill some bubbly and wait for Sarah and Amanda to arrive. We had food, bubbly, more drinks and I blew out a match (we had no candles) and made a wish, fingers crossed :) Then Sarah said our taxi was here and we got out onto the street and I'm pleasantly surprised to see my two good friends Mike and Nikki who are waiting to pick us up and join us for a night of karaoke. Their daughters bday bash was yesterday so I didn't think they could make it so it was so a wonderful surprise to get to celebrate out w/ them like the old days, before kids ;)
So in true Jen style I sang my heart out--but really performed my butt off. So much so I'm still SOAR! The karaoke DJ said I was by far the best act yet...no surrpise there ;) We all had a blast and I had a good crowd of friends around me, good times :) It was captured on video and it's hysterical but I'm not sure I want to do that to your ears---god, I really can't sing. You'll get a sense from the photos!
So onward, a new year that I kicked off the only way I know how, in good fun. Cheers and thanks to all of you for the love and support.
Dear Jen,
ReplyDeleteHappy belated 34th birthday!!!! I loved reading your blog and hearing how great your whole day was. So you shook your booty all night long and sang your heart out..(reminds me of someone very dear!). Glad your heart is in the right place and you are surrounded by lots of loving friends & family.
Love,
Sally W.
