Feel the Burn

Something profound happened to me today. I'm not sure I have the words to yet describe it, it was that profound. But what I do want to share is something that resulted from it. Someone I've only met 72 hours ago was so moved by my profound moment that she was moved to write this poem, for me! And on the eve of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, it seems profound in its own right. So I'd like to share it below.

Feel the Burn

Feelings inside tremble deep within

trying to rebound from life

for no avail

but the truth lies just beneath the surface

like a stringray waiting to strike its tail

into your heart

burning pain I agonize for you

because the bite will stay with you forever

but it doesn't boil down

to any one answer

for you have to look inside

to find it

My heart breaks a little more for those who reflect back 10 years and remain agonized by the sense of loss, and I applaud each and every one of them today and all of us for not falling with the fallen.
