little wins

We often get so focused on the end goal that we forget to celebrate the progress along the way. But the irony is, it's the progress along the way, the "little wins" that keep us going so we can accomplish the end goal. And sometimes it's just about reframing or finding a way to see the little wins as just that, wins. Like if you're training for a marathon (god bless you if you are), don't think 'I only did 10 miles today, that's nothing vs the 26 I have to do on game day.' Think to yourself, 'WOW, I just ran 10 miles, that's 10 more than I ran last year or last week or last month.' Progress, it's all about progress.
The reality is, we have to meet ourselves where we are today, because that's all we have right now is today. And it's about being kind to ourselves and nurturing that where we are today is just fine. And tomorrow we can move forward some more. So as I write I'm trying to take my own advice and think -- yay, I just had two great calls with people from my past business life who are both willing to connect me to other people and who seem genuinely interested in the content I'm offering up. Would I rather be saying -- both calls booked me and I have two new (PAYING!) clients, well of course. But I realize like many things, there's a process to be had. And I'm trying to embrace that with patience and in doing so, really recognize and celebrate the little wins. And so today I celebrate having two great calls that show promise for business ahead.
I'll leave you with some questions to ponder -- that don't just help you support your own little (or big) wins but also help you see some action steps for moving forward. Consider a goal you're working on, or even just your life in general, and answer these 3 questions for yourself:
1. What's been accomplished?
2. What's missing?
3. What's possible?
Now, take a look at what's been accomplished and pat yourself on the back. That's awesome -- there are some wins to celebrate. Take a look at what's missing and write down one action step for how you can start (it's all about baby steps) some momentum toward each item on your list. Or better yet, pick your top priority ones and start there. And finally, take a good look at what's possible and really envision it. That could be your future -- are you ready to start working toward it?
