drinking it all in

So I had heard from a couple people here in LA about this guy Light Watkins who teaches meditation. I instantly thought -- I'm not sure that's for me. While I love the idea of "quieting the mind" it didn't feel like something I was motivated to work on -- even if I should. But then I had a few clients ask me if I had any experience with meditation and I also have had the chance to witness noticeable change in a friend who's been following Light's technique so I was intrigued. I signed up to the free Intro class which was just this past Friday.
Well 1.5 hours later of listening to Light speak (who happens to be an even sexier version of Will Smith!!) I was sold. I felt like I had just chugged the Kool Aid and all I knew was I wanted more. So following the Intro class you're given the choice to sign up for the initiation weekend which was happening this weekend, starting at Saturday at 9am with a traditional initiation ceremony. While I was nervous to put forth the money (thankfully they help you and you can pay it over the course of as many months as you need -- interest free :) I felt the universe has been sending me signs lately and it just seemed like the right time to keep feeding my soul. That this is all adding up to what feels like is some big form of karma or goodness that's right around the corner. So I signed up.
I'm one class short of graduating at this point (headed back in a couple hours to the final class) and it's been an eye opening experience. I'm not going to wax lyrical that I've had this breakthrough or even have experienced what I'll likely experience in the future during my few meditations thus far. But I do feel quite enlightened by the theory and science that lies behind this very specific form of meditation called Vedic Meditation. And all of its incredible benefits to rebuilding the cells in our body that are otherwise destroyed by stress. And the best part is -- you don't have to quiet your mind, free flowing ideas is at the core of the practice. So my mind remains wide open to adopting this into my lifestyle and I promise to keep you updated on how my progress translates into what I suspect will be some pretty wonderful benefits. And in the meantime, read up on it yourself, and if you live in LA, Chicago, or NY -- you should check it out, I promise you won't be disappointed, click here!
