intuition and signs.

In following a lot of Brene Brown's work and after doing a 3-day intensive workshop focused on Brene's Daring Way I've come to better understand and more importantly live by her 10 guideposts. One that I've identified as something I need to keep in the foreground of how I live is the idea of "letting go of the need for certainty by cultivating intuition and trusting faith."

I think for the most part throughout my life I've trusted my gut/intuition, especially as I've gotten older and learned that it's usually telling me something that's either right or something that I need to know/trust. I've also always looked for what I call "signs" - those intangible things that you can't quite explain but they seem to validate your own intuition or something bigger and something meaningful. But that doesn't mean I've always sat with uncertainty well.

So to work on cultivating more intuition and faith, this post is in honor of that inner voice that we all have but too often let other outside voices overshadow, or we just overlook the power of what the inner voice knows. And here's to the signs that support it - the "validation" some might call it but I choose to see it as just more proof that what you're feeling is likely spot on.

And here's a little story to support the spirit of what I write about...as my readers likely recall, I've been told by two different psychic / mediums that my mom tries to communicate with me through hummingbirds. I very much believed this while in LA because I saw them ALL THE TIME. Then I moved to Texas and I haven't seen many at all - actually I've only seen 3 hummingbirds in Texas - one on a walk in my neighborhood and two different ones while sitting on my porch as each came up to the hummingbird feeder. My landlords said they are typically here all the time so I bought a feeder thinking that would keep them around but nope, they are no where to be found! Except these two times. And the first time one came to the feeder, moments later I received a text from a man who I have a very strong feeling about - someone who's come to mean a lot to me. And the second time was today - when I was on the phone with that same man. Very interesting. The last medium I saw said that my mom promises me she will work hard at sending me signs when I meet "my person" even thought she claims I will know pretty immediately after meeting him. And I recall receiving an email from this man while I was still living in LA and saying out loud - mom I need you to send me a sign if this is someone I should be really paying attention to. On that morning's walk with KoKo I saw FIVE hummingbirds! I kid you not....this is 100% truth.

So here's to letting go of the need for certainty, trusting your own intuition and faith, and might I add the signs that no one can explain but you know exactly what they mean.
