Well day 4 consisted of driving up the rest of the coast all the way to San Francisco and into Sonoma County aka Wine Country! It was quite a drive, especially through Big Sur. Mountain roads with lots of curves--dad and I couldn't help but smile thinking about how Mom would've been hating it in the back seat. All very beautiful and so worth the journey. We hit a lot of traffic heading into San Fran and over the Golden Gate so we were approaching Wine Country on Friday at 4pm with the rest of San Fran. So that kept us from tasting on Friday but we instead made a full day of it on Saturday. We hopped from vineyard to vineyard sipping our way throughout Sonoma. We loved every bit of it and of course managed to pick up some bottles along the way.
We stayed at the Hilton Sonoma County and I highly recommend that. Their restaurant was quite yummy (Nector) so we enjoyed a good dinner and breakfast there. And I finally caught up on some sleep by checking into my own room--it was quite lovely :)
After a day full of tastings and a lovely seafood lunch in one of the little towns along the way we hit the road again to make a dent in the 300 miles down to Sequoia Nat'l Park. We drove about 3 hours and stopped off in Modesto to hit a Super 8 and a Red Lobster before we finished our journey on Sunday in the park. Stay tuned for pics of that!
Have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying my Dad--this has been an amazing trip, reminds me a lot of my mom's visit out here--how much I love showing off my new life and all the beauty that surrounds it!
