Day 5 of our 5 day roadtrip arrived and we headed right into Sequoia National Park. This was one of the main attractions dad wanted to see--the GIANT trees. So after the 17 mile climb up from the base of the mountain going about 15 MPH we finally hit the first attraction--The General Sherman Tree--the largest in the world. 300 feet tall and 103 feet wide at the base of its circumference. Pretty darn big. The pics don't even do it justice. And then we road a bit more and winded around some of the paths and even drove through a tree laying down--pretty cool.
We took in some lunch along the Kern River after (at a restaurant) and then hit the road to head South, back to LA. We enjoyed a relaxing night in at my place on Sunday enjoying some wine and our show, True Blood. Since then we've been mulling around LA to all my favorite spots including the Venice pier and boardwalk as well as the Venice canals. We also went to the awesome steakhouse where I had taken my Mom and loved, STK, and my few good friends out here came along--Mike & Nikki who I stayed with initially when I moved here and my new best gal, Sarah. Dad loved meeting them as did they enjoy meeting some of my family. I think dad sees why I love it here and MAYBE could even see himself here but I won't let myself get too excited about that....I'm sure he'd never come this far. But I'll settle for an annual visit.
Tonight we're off to see the Dodgers vs the Phillies which will be a fun way to cap off what's been an amazing trip.
Sorry it has taken so long but i finally got a chance to catch up on the blog and your visit. Well it all looks amazing and it seems you two had a wonderful time and I hope it was everything you wanted it to be. i love the picture of you on the rock in front of the ocean!
