Ostrichland & Hearst Castle

On day 3 of my adventure with Dad we left Solvang and stopped off at Ostrichland, yes you read correctly. Just up the road was an ostrich farm and you could feed them! We OF COURSE had to stop and get some pictures!! We fed them too and admired all the gifts in the store. We couldn't help thinking about my mom the entire time--oh my how she would've LOVED it. I just can't believe I can't show her but hopefully she was watching us yesterday b/c I'm sure she enjoyed it.

Then we continued on into Cambria where we were staying, checked in and had a nice lunch along the ocean and then off to our tour at Hearst Castle. Boy was it magnificent. The pictures can't even do it justice but you'll get an idea. It was quite cool, I highly recommend it and Dad really enjoyed it. From there we went back to our hotel and found a cute spot for dinner in the quiet town of Cambria. They tell us it's their busy season but it was pretty dead last night...the town blames the unusually cool weather this summer. Probably true.

Unfortunately the night wasn't as lovely as the rest of the trip as been. After being up most of the night before b/c of a stomach ache, I was quite excited to sleep but Dad and his snoring had another agenda. I tried the bathroom floor and still couldn't sleep so by 1am I dragged a pillow and blanket out to my car and curled up in the back of my Mazda 3. You can imagine, I'm beyond tired today :) So tonight Dad's springing to get us separate rooms and I'm counting the minutes till bedtime. :)

Stay tuned for day 4, Sonoma and Napa vineyards, yay! Oh and I'll also close with special shout out to one of my readers--she'll enjoy the road sign we spotted and pulled over to photograph.
