good stuff

On Thursday I got in my from my run and saw a text from my Dad that said check your email :) I check it and it reads: can you pick me up at the airport on Aug 24th? I WAS SO EXCITED. As you can sense from my posts, I've been feeling very isolated from my east coast friends and family and have wanted Dad to come see my "new life" ever since I got here...so I'm pretty happy that he's decided to fly west. And to arrive on my Mom's bday, well, let's just say I think it will be good for the both of us.

So I'm busy planning our week--Dad has always wanted to drive north along the coast and check out wine country and also the Sequoia state park. So he arrives on Tues and I think Wed-Sun we'll be on the road stopping off at a few places along the way...it's gonna be great fun, just the two of us. Then we'll have a couple days back in LA before he heads back East...and we're even going to catch a Phillies/Dodgers game at Dodgers stadium, should be fun!

Beyond that excitement, I've been busy with my new babysitting, errand running gig for a woman my friend put me in touch with. Sadly she goes back to NY next week but I think I'll still be able to help her with stuff from time to time. And in the meantime, I have a second interview at a place this week, so we'll see how that goes. REALLY hoping to be working come early Sept...fingers crossed.

Yesterday I went on a late afternoon hike at Point Dume in Malibu...it was actually a 4th date which made it even more enticing. As far as dates go, it was pretty damn great! And as far as a leisurely hike and gorgeous views as the sky goes from sunny to the sun setting...it was amazing. I STILL can't believe I live here and this gorgeous view is only a 1/2 hour from my house. To cap off the day--a 6 pack of beer and fish tacos at Malibu seafood--and of course great company. Thumbs up on yesterday.

Today is a friends birthday--a gal I've become close with since moving out here to LA so I look forward to toasting her over a late afternoon adult beverage.

All in all, today life feels good.
