Solvang/Santa Barbara

Day 2 with Dad, we hit the road. Right up the Pacific Coast Highway along the ocean until it turns into the 101. We road about 2 hours and then stopped off in Santa Barbara along their Main Street (State St) for some lunch and site seeing of the pier etc. Very pretty. Then back in the car about 30 miles up the rolling hills and into Solvang and Los Olives where just some of the vineyards are. We went to Koehler and Firestone, walked away with two bottles from Firestone, we really enjoyed that one.

Then off to Solvang to check into our cute hotel and out to dinner at the Hitching Post--if you've seen the movie Sideways, that's where much of it was filmed--in Solvang and at the Hitching Post. (Also, side note on Sideways, I've been babysitting for the lead actor, Paul Giamatti's awesome 9 year old, gotta love LA. Just a fun tidbit). We had a wonderful dinner where I proceeded to eat way too much and my stomach hasn't been right since. But we haven't let that stop us, we were up early and hit the road again for Day 3--Ostrichland (YES, you read correctly) and Hearst Castle). I'll post more on that later but for now here's a couple pics of our tour so far. We're both really, really enjoying it. Cheers!
